Elderly woman dies 1 month after 2-car crash in Tucson

No matter how simple the action, a negligent driver could cause a tragic accident. When a driver fails to uphold a certain standard of care, they not only risk their life but the lives of others on the roadways. Whether they are speeding, fail to stay in their lane or text while driving, to name a few examples, a negligent or distracted driver could be at fault for a serious or even fatal car accident.

A month following a serious two-vehicle collision, a 90-year-old woman has passed away as a result of her injuries. The accident occurred in mid-March in Tucson near the intersection of Speedway Avenue and Catalina Avenue. According to reports, the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when a pickup truck failed to yield at the stop sign located on Speedway Avenue. This resulted in the pickup truck colliding with a PT Cruiser.

The driver of the PT Cruiser suffered minor injuries, while the 90-year-old passenger of the PT Cruiser was seriously injured. Officers indicated that the 60-year-old driver of the pickup truck showed signs of intoxication. The pickup truck driver suffered injuries in the crash and was not arrested or charged on the day the accident occurred. Following the death of the elderly passenger of the automobile, the man now faces felony charges.

In addition to criminal or traffic charges, a driver who causes a fatal accident could face civil liabilities. The loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim while the injured party could file a personal injury suit. These actions could provide them with compensation to cover medical bills, funeral costs and pain and suffering damages.

The seriousness of an accident is not always apparent right away. An injured party could endure serious trauma and medical complications, which could ultimately result in death. Loved ones should understand what steps they need to take in order to establish a cause of action and file for compensation to cover the expenses associated with the crash.
