Serious injuries in Phoenix wrong-way crash

The safety of drivers on the roadway is not only dependent on the driver's ability to abide by the rules of the road, but also on the driving behaviors of others traveling on the roadways. If a driver fails to uphold a duty of care while behind the wheel of a vehicle, that driver could cause a collision. In many cases, a driver's failure to pay attention and avoid distracting activities, such as texting while driving, could lead to a serious accident.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety recently reported that authorities were dispatched to a wrong-way crash in Phoenix. According to preliminary reports, the accident took place on Route 143 around 2:15 a.m. The accident involved two vehicles, and it apparently occurred when a driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 143.

It was reported that the wrong-way collision caused serious injuries and road closures. Route 143 remained closed until about 6:30 a.m. while investigators collected evidence at the site and debris was cleared from the roadways. Further details about the crash have not been released and no charges have been filed at this time.

When a driver travels on a roadway in the wrong direction, it is usually the result of negligence or distractions. Those injured by a wrong-way driver could file a personal injury claim. This could provide them with a monetary award to cover the costs caused by the crash. Oftentimes an injured party is left with substantial medical bills and damages. Compensation could be used to alleviate these financial burdens.
