Truck Collisions in Phoenix

When you drive on I-10, I-17, I-40 in Arizona, there is constant stream and volume of big trucks and tractor trailers. Given the size and weight of trucks, collisions often result in serious injuries and fatalities.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) has reported on common causes of truck crashes and collisions. They include speeding, driver fatigue, distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and failure to follow safety training.

Additional reasons for truck accidents include improper maintenance and equipment, mechanical problems, slow deceleration of trucks, blind spots and unsafe turns.

I represented a group of Arizona family and friends traveling back home to Phoenix, eastbound on I-10, near Tonopah, Arizona. Their van was rear-ended by a Freightliner tractor trailer, going sixty miles per hour, which caused a rollover in the desert.

In addition to the truck driver's negligence, his hours of driving, the time of the crash and irregularities in his logs all suggested that he was driving fatigued.

My clients were transported by Air Evac and ambulance to various Phoenix hospitals, each sustained traumatic injuries and extensive medical bills. Following litigation, settlements were reached with the insurance company for the trucking company and the truck driver.
