Motorcyclist killed by pickup truck failing to yield

In this day and age, it is difficult to stay focused on one thing at a time. People tend to be in a rush and attempt to fit so many tasks into one day. Although this is possible in the office or work setting, multitasking is not a practical or safe habit to do while driving. A driver can easily get distracted when they are paying more attention to their phone or another passenger than they are on the road. When a driver fails to properly pay attention a serious or even fatal accident could occur.

Emergency crews in Casa Grande were recently dispatched to a fatal motorcycle accident. The collision involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck, and it occurred near the intersection of Florence Boulevard and Colorado Street at around 6:00 p.m. According to reports, the accident happened when both the truck and the motorcyclist had a green light at the intersection and the pickup truck failed to yield and pulled out in front of the motorcycle.

Emergency crews reported that the motorcyclist died as a result of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested and charged with one count for causing death by automobile. The 42-year-old man also faces a charge for driving without a valid driver's license. In addition to facing traffic and criminal penalties, the driver could also face civil liabilities. The loved ones of the motorcyclist could file a wrongful death lawsuit. This could allow them to recover compensation that could be used to cover medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and other damages.

Due to their small size, motorcycles are able to go unnoticed by some drivers on the road. This is why it is always important that drivers take certain precautionary steps, such as checking mirrors and blind spots, yielding to oncoming traffic, signaling turns and driving at posted speeds. When a driver fails to do any of these, they could be found negligent and at fault for an accident. Those affected by the accident might have a cause of action against the liable party.
