Two SUVs collide head-on, killing both drivers

Drivers are aware that certain dangerous behaviors on the road could lead to a serious accident. Driving fast, not signaling lane changes and turns, texting while driving and driving under the influence are all very risky and could lead to fatal crash. A negligent driver is also putting their own life at risk and could suffer injuries or lose their life as well.

The Phoenix Police recently responded to a head-on collision in the West Valley. The accident involved two SUVs and occurred around 6:40 p.m. on 83rd Avenue just south of Buckeye Road. According to reports, the driver of a Ford Expedition was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on 83rd avenue. The speeding SUV apparently crossed the centerline and crash head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Following this initial crash, a third vehicle traveling southbound crashed into the two SUVs. Emergency crews responded to the multi-vehicle crash. The drivers of the two SUVs were pronounced dead at the scene. He driver of the third vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators later learned that the speeding Expedition was involved in an early collision and had fled the scene prior to the fatal motor vehicle accident. The crash remains under investigation.

Following a fatal crash, if a driver is found negligent and at fault for the accident, they could face civil liabilities. Even if the driver did not survive the accident, claims could be filed against their estate. In this case, the loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death suit if it is determined that one of the drivers was negligent. This could result in compensation to cover expenses, such as funeral costs, lost wages and damages.

A fatal crash can affect numerous people – not only those involved in the accident but their loved ones as well. This could result in financial burdens piling up after the death of a loved one. Family members should understand their rights and options when it comes to filing for compensation and alleviating the financial hardship from the accident.
